The Premier 'AA' Hockey League, the ECHL has been a stepping stone to both the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League for countless front office personnel, coaches, on-ice officials, equipment managers and trainers. The league will celebrate its 20th Anniversary in 2007-08 with 25 teams in 16 states and one Canadian province. The Mississippi Sea Wolves will return to the ice to celebrate their 10th Anniversary after having their last two seasons cancelled in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina while the Elmira Jackals will play their first season as an expansion team. The ECHL has had affiliations with 20 or more teams in the NHL for each of the past 10 seasons and there have been 329 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL. The ECHL has had affiliations with 20 or more teams in the AHL for each of the past six years and in the past five seasons has had more players called up to the AHL than all other professional league combined. For the first time since 1998-99 the ECHL had 10 teams that averaged more than 5,000 fans per game in 2006-07 led by Stockton and Florida, who had the two highest average attendances since 2000-01. Thirteen of the 22 returning teams raised their attendance from 2005-06 as the league had 35 sellouts for the fourth year in a row.
