Social Media/Content Internship - ECHL (Princeton, NJ)

Began in 1988-89 with five teams in four states, the ECHL has grown into a coast-to-coast league with 27 teams in 21 states and one Canadian province for its 30th Season in 2017-18. There have been 623 players who have started their career in the ECHL and gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 24 who made their NHL debuts in the 2016-17 Season. The ECHL has affiliations with 27 of the 30 NHL teams in 2017-18, marking the 21st consecutive season that the league had affiliations with at least 20 teams in the NHL. The ECHL is seeking a qualified candidate to assist with Social Media and Content. This position provides an opportunity to create professional relationships, build content for a portfolio, as well as gain experience in professional sports.

Desired candidate will be able to visit the ECHL Office (Princeton, NJ), but will be able to assist and earn hours remotely. This position will run throughout the 2017-18 Season (October-June). Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and video editing software is a plus.

Responsibilities:

•Assist with League social media accounts on Game nights

•Cut video highlights for social media use

•Contribute to feature stories for League website

•Create content for ECHL.com and League social channels

•Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve desired goals

•Ability to handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively in order to meet project deadlines and business needs

•Must be able to work nights and weekends when ECHL games are ongoing

• Must possess strong knowledge of social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)

•Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills

•Working knowledge of the game of hockey highly recommended

•Experience in graphic design and/or video production a plus

•Ability to earn credits an accredited university/college

Compensation:  This position is a part time internship- the desired candidate should be able to receive college credit for his/her work.

This candidate will primarily assist the ECHL Staff with ongoing projects for the web, social media, and special events. He/she will be a part of the creative process for multiple ECHL projects, with the opportunity to showcase his/her work on ECHL digital and social channels.

Applicants should be familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro. Desired candidate will be able to visit the ECHL Office (Princeton, NJ), but will be able to assist and earn hours remotely. This position will run throughout the 2017-18 Season (October-June).

What You’ll Be Doing

The Production Crew Member plays a key role in executing great live sporting events.  This position will be held by a multi-talented team player that will fulfill multiple roles in game day production activities. The Production Crew Member must appreciate the opportunity to learn and improve their skills in a variety of production roles to create quality content.

  • Run camera as scripted and directed during live sporting events
  • Operate audio board and other AV production equipment for live sporting events
  • Assist with game day graphics
  • Operate instant replay system
  • Assist Creative Producer and Technical director as needed

What You Need for this Position

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as event scripts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Be customer service oriented with a fan-friendly attitude and professional appearance at all times
  • High School education or equivalent
  • One or more years as a Production Assistant or similar position in a live broadcast or live sports setting
  • Must be willing to work all preseason and regular season home games and additional hours beyond those scheduled with little notice
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours or more
  • Able to stoop and bend
  • Occasionally able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Able to comply with safety standards

What You’ll Be Doing

The Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL are in search of a Broadcast/Public Relations intern for the 2017-18 season. This position provides an opportunity to create professional relationships with media and broadcast partners, and features a number of on-air opportunities. The right candidate will interact with players, coaches, staff, and media members during the season-long (September-April) internship. Strong writing skills and comfort with a microphone and camera are preferred. The intern will directly report to the Director of Broadcasting and Public Relations.

  • Provide on-air content for home games including intermission and post-game interviews
