Broadcasting Intern - Adirondack Thunder (Glens Falls, NY)

Description

The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, are looking for a Broadcasting Intern for the 2017-2018 season.

Qualified candidates should have aspirations of entering the broadcasting field in an on-air or production capacity.

The Thunder Broadcast & Communications Intern will assist the team's play-by-play broadcaster with game night broadcasts and interviews.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Help with production of pregame, intermission and post-game shows on Thunder Radio Network
  • Assist in the production of game-day stats for media
  • Conduct interviews with Thunder players and coaches as well as opponents
  • Cut and edit audio highlights live during game for intermission and other use
  • Assist with broadcast preparation including team sheets, line charts and other duties as assigned by the play-by-play broadcaster
  • Potential for on-air experience
  • Potential for writing and/or graphics experience if desired
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Prior broadcasting experience is a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of the game of hockey
  • Knowledge of audio editing software (ex. Adobe Audition, Garage Band, Audacity)
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Ideal candidates are pursuing a college degree in Communications, Marketing, Sport Management or a closely related field however this is not required
  • Ability to receive college credit based on the specific requirements is a plus
  • Successful candidates have some experience in marketing and/or customer service, are innovative, self-starters, independent, highly creative workers with good organization, interpersonal and follow-up skills with the willingness to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent phone skills and proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members and the general public

Game Night Promotions Staff - Atlanta Gladiators (Duluth, GA)

Game Night Promotions Staff - The focus of this program is to provide local students, who desire a career in Sports Management, with an opportunity to learn and experience the business side of sports through “hands on” participation. The student will be integrated into the Gladiators game night staff and receive instruction and exposure to the fundamentals necessary to successfully coordinate game night activities. 

Internship Time Period: September 2017-April 2018 (or end of season including playoffs based on your availability)

Compensation/Time Requirements: The Game Night Staff position requires the intern to work all 36 Gladiators home games. Exceptions may be worked out on a case by case basis. Applicants should be either currently enrolled in high school or college to apply and be able and willing to complete the hours required as outlined below. This is paid position with compensation to be determined.. 


Prerequisites:

  • Basic understanding of hockey & the ECHL as it pertains to the Gladiators
  • Understanding of the Gladiators values and mission.
  • Should possess excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including adults and children of all ages.
  • Must be detail oriented with a high level of energy and commitment.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and complete tasks in a time sensitive manner.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Ability to comfortably walk on ice (smooth or chopped.)

Internship Duties: 

  • Assist the Game Operations Department with pre-game set up and organization.
  • Prospecting potential intermission participants based on promo/sponsor requirements.
  • Shadow game operations employees and in-stand host(s) during game as needed.
  • Assist with execution and clean up of intermission contests on the ice and in-stand promotions and sponsor elements that occur during the game.
  • Deliver various items regarding in-game promotions and/or raffle prize winners.
  • Participate in any post-game Gladiators promotional handouts and staging breakdown.

Sports Marketing Internship

The Jacksonville Icemen are seeking highly motivated, outgoing, and dedicated candidates for our 2017 Season Internships. Candidates should expect to build upon their work experience in the fast-paced, results driven world of the ECHL.

Position Overview:

The internship program offers hands-on experience in sales, marketing and game operations through implementing and planning off-season activities leading up to and through the conclusion of the 2017-2018 season. Sales and Marketing Interns will be an integral part of the IceMen sales team by assisting in all aspects of selling, fulfilling and executing sales initiatives. Interns will also provide support for grassroots marketing, ticket sales events and Jacksonville IceMen game days. This internship is for outgoing, hardworking individuals who want to pursue a career in sports.

 Public Relations

The Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL are in search of a Photography intern for the 2017-18 season. This position provides an opportunity to create and capture photos that will be used for social media and news channels, as well as help build a portfolio for the candidate. Main Character Performer - Toledo Mud Hens and Walleye (Toledo, OH)

Social Media Game Day Intern - Toledo Walleye (Toledo, OH)

Job Description: The Toledo Walleye Communications - Social Media Game Day Intern is part of the Marketing Department and will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience working in a professional sports organization. This person assists both the Communications and Promotions team by live-tweeting the on-ice action during all Walleye games (home and road) and promoting the in-game experience during home games. This position will help produce postgame recaps for the web and social media.

Job responsibilities (duties include, but not limited to):

  1. Contribute to the team’s social media efforts before, during and after games.
  2. Write games recaps for all home and road games, post to team’s official website, and distribute to media.
  3. Support Social Media Coordinator with messaging related to in-game experiences and on-ice action during all home games.
  4. Live-tweet all road games (Social Media Intern will not travel with the team).
  5. Assist with media relations duties on game days.
  6. Edit and upload postgame highlights to FTP site.
  7. Opportunity to write feature articles for Walleye blog and develop content for social media platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of hockey and ability to score a game
  • Must be fluent in social media best practices, with brand experience preferred
  • Strong writer and communicator
  • Ability to work the entire hockey season (October to April) during home and away games
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and other nontraditional hours
  • Proven experience to appropriately work with and around confidential information
  • Strong time management, organizational and proofreading skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

Job responsibilities (duties include, but are not limited to):

  1. Develop written materials including, but not limited to, website stories, social media posts, special events descriptions, and press releases.
  2. Assist with the creation of email marketing messages.
  3. Support the creation of social media posts and reports.
  4. Assist with the planning, management and execution of special events and media opportunities.
  5. Monitor and research industry trends.
  6. Support Communications Team Members with development of media itineraries, research and materials development, etc.

Corporate Partnerships Intern – Utah Grizzlies (Salt Lake City, Utah)

Position Description

This is a paid internship in the Corporate Sales department of the Utah Grizzlies. The intern will be needed 10-20 hours a week during all Grizzlies home games. Any previous relevant presentations, studies, essays or other examples which showcase writing abilities and creative thinking are recommended when interviewing for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, facilitation, and execution of sponsorship/partnership sales and leads

  • Assist in creating and tracking all Corporate Partnership proposals and contracts

  • Learn and implement the sales process from introduction to closure

  • Assist with special events and hospitality programs

  • Assist with client management and general account activation

  • Perform market/industry/prospects research

  • Assist account managers with game day activation

  • Research, develop and help execute new and innovative products and promotional ideas

  • Help recap proposals of existing partners

  • Maintain and continue to improve positive image for the company

*All interns will work directly with the following departments:

Game Operations, Public Relations, and Ticketing

• Proficiencies in Photoshop, Social Media, and Publisher are a plus.
