2017-18 Adirondack Thunder Game Night Interns – October 2017 through the 2017-18 season
 

Located in Glens Falls, NY and playing at the Glens Falls Civic Center, the Adirondack Thunder, ECHL, are seeking talented individuals to join their Game Night staff.
 

The primary function of the Game Night team is to support the Director, Game Operations and the Thunder staff in executing all in-game activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Interacting with fans, preparing giveaways for in-game use, completing all of the game night setup and breakdown, and facilitating crowd interactive activities and promotions. The successful candidates will act as promotional and goodwill ambassadors for the Adirondack Thunder Hockey Club. Other duties as assigned.
 

Our Expectations: Excellent customer service skills and a basic knowledge of hockey, sports, and/or entertainment. Must be reliable, honest, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to move Game Operations inventory and be on your feet for extended periods of time. Candidates must be able to work most Thunder home games including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
 

Essential Duties:

  • Assisting the Director, Game Operations before and during all Thunder home games in presenting and executing a high level, high energy game experience that is memorable for fans
  • Following game scripts accordingly. Must be responsible, professional, and punctual
  • Supporting the execution of the game presentation, including selling programs, yearbooks, etc., and assisting with in-game promotions such as Chuck-A-Puck, raffle programs, and more
  • Participating in on-ice entertainment and media break activities such as t-shirt tosses
     

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements:

  • This internship is unpaid. Applicants must be able to receive course credit. Will be provided with a pregame meal, parking, and two (2) tickets per game
  • High School and College students are welcome to apply
  • Outstanding customer service skills are a must. Interns will be representing the Adirondack Thunder organization on a nightly basis and must conduct themselves in a manner accordingly
  • Must be able to commit to most, if not all, of 36 Thunder home games
  • Any experience working in sports/entertainment related industries is a plus
  • Need to provide your own transportation to and from all games

ECHL Week Correspondent - Double S Media LLC (WEST CHESTER, PA)

ECHL Week Correspondent (as-needed basis)

ECHL Week is a regular news/highlights program which details happenings about North America’s premier “AA” professional ice hockey league comprised of 27 teams in 21 states and one province. The program appears on YouTube and on numerous websites and social media channels. Double S Media, which produces the show in cooperation with the ECHL, is making preparations for the sixth season of the program.

Double S Media is looking for a correspondent to occasionally assist in accumulating and producing content for ECHL Week.

Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, responsible, mature individuals who are interested in conveying information and have an ability to get along well with others, particularly those employed (at all levels) with professional sports teams. Knowledge and understanding of minor-league ice hockey is a plus.

Candidates will also be considered for on-camera work.

Requirements:

·        Background in communications, journalism or other related area.

·        Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including writing.

·        Strong organizational skills including an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.

·        Creativity and flexibility.

·        Ability to work without direct supervision

·        Willingness to accept constructive criticism in order to improve results.

·        Interest in professional minor-league ice hockey.

·        The successful candidate will have equipment necessary to accumulate content as described above (including but not limited to: video camera [not a phone]; tripod; dynamic or condenser microphone which is compatible with camera; proper lighting; internet connection to transmit content). Note: if you are identified as a finalist, you will be required to submit a test video which demonstrates your ability to gather and transmit content, the quality of which would allow it to be used on the show.

·        The ability to travel to at least one of the following cities to cover events/games: Allen, Texas; Boise, Idaho; Estero, Fla.; Kansas City, Mo.; Loveland, Colo.; Moline, Ill.; Orlando, Fla.; Rapid City, S.D.; Tulsa, Okla.; West Valley City, Utah; Wichita, Kan. (This requirement is essential.) Correspondents can expect to be assigned to one or two games per month.

Details:

Starting date: October, 2017

Ending date: as late as May, 2018, depending upon conclusion of the season

Time requirements: To be decided based upon game schedules; on average one or two games (about six hours each) per month.

Fee to correspondent: Specific figure to be determined based upon prior experience. Fees will be paid only for games assigned and attended; there will be no other payments or reimbursements for expenses.

Television Programming Intern - ECHL Week (WEST CHESTER, PA)

ECHL Week (television programming) Intern

ECHL Week is a regular news/highlights program which details happenings about North America’s premier “AA” professional ice hockey league comprised of 27 teams in 21 states and one province. Double S Media, which produces the show in cooperation with the ECHL, is making preparations for the sixth season of the program.

Double S Media is looking for an intern to assist in various stages of the production process of ECHL Week. Interns will get to work with an experienced journalist, be exposed to reporting about professional sports, and develop an understanding about news gathering/presentation in this environment.

Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, responsible and mature individuals who are interested in conveying information and have an ability to get along well with others, particularly those employed (at all levels) with professional sports teams. Those who are skilled with social media, and are creative and thoughtful when interacting with online communities will be ideal. Knowledge and understanding of minor-league ice hockey is a plus.

Appropriate candidates will also be considered for on-camera work.

What you will learn:

·        How television program segments are built – from concept through implementation.

·        Video-recording content on location.

·        How to create compelling content that will be viewed by fans, players, team personnel and others.

·        Becoming comfortable both in front of and behind the camera.

Photography Intern - Kalamazoo Wings (Kalamazoo, MI)

The Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL are in search of a Photography intern for the 2017-18 season. This position provides an opportunity to create and capture photos that will be used for social media and news channels, as well as help build a portfolio for the candidate. The right candidate will interact with players, coaches, staff, and media members during the season-long (September-April) internship. The intern will directly report to the Director of Marketing.

Responsibilities include:

-Capturing photos of in-game action

-Cropping and delivering at least 30-40 pictures before end of second intermission

-Cropping and distribution to several team departments during the game.

Description: The game presentation intern will assist in the filming, editing and presentation of video and graphics used throughout the Monarchs operation. Duties may include:

· Archiving and logging video footage

· Filming

· Assisting with the organization of equipment and video shoots, as well as other assigned tasks. The position may also require game day responsibilities.
