2017-18 Adirondack Thunder Game Night Interns – October 2017 through the 2017-18 season
 

Located in Glens Falls, NY and playing at the Glens Falls Civic Center, the Adirondack Thunder, ECHL, are seeking talented individuals to join their Game Night staff.
 

The primary function of the Game Night team is to support the Director, Game Operations and the Thunder staff in executing all in-game activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Interacting with fans, preparing giveaways for in-game use, completing all of the game night setup and breakdown, and facilitating crowd interactive activities and promotions. The successful candidates will act as promotional and goodwill ambassadors for the Adirondack Thunder Hockey Club. Other duties as assigned.
 

Our Expectations: Excellent customer service skills and a basic knowledge of hockey, sports, and/or entertainment. Must be reliable, honest, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to move Game Operations inventory and be on your feet for extended periods of time. Candidates must be able to work most Thunder home games including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
 

Essential Duties:

  • Assisting the Director, Game Operations before and during all Thunder home games in presenting and executing a high level, high energy game experience that is memorable for fans
  • Following game scripts accordingly. Must be responsible, professional, and punctual
  • Supporting the execution of the game presentation, including selling programs, yearbooks, etc., and assisting with in-game promotions such as Chuck-A-Puck, raffle programs, and more
  • Participating in on-ice entertainment and media break activities such as t-shirt tosses

  • This internship is unpaid. Applicants must be able to receive course credit. Will be provided with a pregame meal, parking, and two (2) tickets per game

Job Description
The Public Relations internship program with the Cincinnati Cyclones hockey team is a hands-on program that will assist the Public Relations department with responsibilities regarding social media, feature writing, video projects, statistical compilation, press events, media outreach, and more for the 2017-2018 season.

The Pubic Relations internship program is primarily a Game Day position, and interns MUST be available to work ALL 36 CYCLONES HOME HOCKEY GAMES! This season, 23 of those 36 contests will take place on Friday or Saturday nights, or Sunday afternoons, and the Cyclones will also play games on Thanksgiving Eve, Black Friday, two days after Christmas (Dec. 27), and New Years Eve. As stated above, interns must be available to work all 36 home games.

Game day is a high-energy, fast-paced environment. The best candidates for this internship will be able to learn and adapt quickly, multitask effectively, communicate clearly, keep a high level of positive energy, and show an overall passion for the industry and our brand.

Assigned tasks may include:

  • Updating and maintaining the Cyclones game day social media accounts (May include Twitter updates for road games)
  • Assisting in video projects such as clipping highlights, in-game video elements, player features, etc. for use in the team’s print and digital marketing efforts
  • Gather and post photos to social media throughout Cyclones games
  • Assist in coming up with storylines, gathering stats and other pertinent information for feature stories, game notes, and broadcasts
  • Distributing Game Notes to various media in attendance at Cyclones hockey games
  • Coordinate and oversee post-game interview sessions between players and members of the media
  • Work with NeuLion Live Tag Editor to cut and produce game highlight packages for distribution to local and national media outlets
  • Assist in media efforts for major theme nights
  • Assist with various game operations initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Must be available to work all 36 home games
  • Must possess strong knowledge of social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, etc.)
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge/Familiarity of Photoshop highly recommended
  • Some familiarity with video editing/working knowledge of video editing suites highly recommended
  • Interns must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Communications & Multimedia Intern - Indy Fuel Hockey Club (Indianapolis, IN)

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing, the Indy Fuel’s Communications & Multimedia Intern will assist the communications and marketing departments in all areas of operation over the course of the 2017-18 season, with an emphasis on producing engaging graphic and visual content. Individuals will have the opportunity to grow and gain experience in the communications and marketing departments of a professional sports organization.

ABOUT THE FUEL

Heading into the organization’s fourth ECHL season, the Indy Fuel serve as the proud “AA” affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs. The Fuel play all home games at the historic Indiana Farmers Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds, with their regular season spanning from October to April.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Under the advisement of the Director of Marketing, coordinate the planning and production of video content for the Fuel’s website and social media channels

-Assist with the production of graphic and visual elements to be used for the team’s print and digital marketing efforts

-Capture compelling footage of players and fans on game nights to utilize for future marketing purposes

-Shoot and produce feature videos highlighting various community appearances and ancillary events throughout the season

-Assist in preparation of game day materials, including game programs, game previews, media game notes, and team and player statistics

-When needed, work with the Directors of Broadcasting and Marketing to carry out media relations duties on game days

-Coordinate and oversee post-game interview sessions between players and coaches and members of the media

-Assist the Director of Marketing in the management of the Indiana Farmers Coliseum press box; assist working media members and off ice officials; and help with pre-game set up and post-game tear down

-Work with the NeuLion Live Tag Editor to cut and produce game highlight packages for distribution to media outlets and team social media channels

-Contribute to the team’s social media efforts before, during, and after games, using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and Tagboard

-Opportunities to write feature articles for Fuel website and social media platforms

-Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

Qualified applicants must be enrolled in a higher education program and be pursuing a degree in communications, graphic and video production, marketing or an equivalent field throughout the duration of the internship and must receive course credit for their commitment to the Fuel.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

-Must have experience shooting, producing and editing video content using a variety of equipment and programs

-Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office

-Must be fluent in social media use and best practices, with brand experience preferred

-On-air and in-studio broadcasting experience a plus

-Interest in a career in sports communications, multimedia and marketing preferred

REQUIREMENTS:

Game Day Responsibilities:
