Game Day Operations Executive (Unpaid Internship) - Brampton Beast Hockey Club (Brampton, ON)

Organization Profile:
The Brampton Beast are the newest professional hockey team in Canada. After playing their inaugural season as a member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), the Beast are now members of the ECHL after the two AA leagues merged in early October, 2014. The Beast play their home games at the Powerade Centre located in Brampton, Ontario. The team is dedicated and devoted to serving the community while continuing to advance the sport of hockey by providing exciting sports entertainment for a growing fan base. Volunteer, internships, employment opportunities, player career development, youth programs, and small business partnerships are all aspects of the business that the Brampton Beast sustain.

 

Responsibilities:
The Brampton Beast Hockey Club is scouting for committed, energetic, and outgoing individuals with a passion for both customer service and hockey.  The Game-Day Operations internship provides a learning experience for those looking to develop their knowledge and skills surrounding sports and events business operations.  

The Game-Day Operations Intern will be responsible for:

  • Providing operational support during all Beast events and game-days
  • Assisting with event planning procedures in-office
  • Acting as a key member of promotions, event execution, and sponsorship fulfillment
  • Learning to plan, organize and execute elements necessary for in-game entertainment
  • Working with various departments to coordinate game-day strategies
  • Gaining knowledge of the facility and the Beast organization
  • Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment and game entertainment needs
  • Performing all other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be recieving school credit upon completion of the internship program in order to be eligible for participation
  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college/university program. Preference will be given to candidates who are currently enrolled in college/university programs relevant to sports/business/management. 
  • Must be available to attend Beast Home Games and Events that take place during internship
  • Strong verbal/written communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Team-oriented nature, with an ability to work in a fast-paced group atmosphere
  • Outgoing and energetic with a willingness to learn
  • Able to exert force or lift up to 25 pounds
  • Knowledge and previous experiences in hockey would be an asset
  • Demonstrates commitment to the following 10 qualities: integrity, work ethic, positive attitude, results, teamwork, independence, creativity, confidence, leadership, and urgency

The Brampton Beast Hockey Club is scouting for committed, energetic, and outgoing individuals with a passion for both community relations and hockey.  The Community Relations internship provides a learning experience for those looking to develop their knowledge and skills surrounding sports and events business operations, particularly as they relate to developing and maintaining relationships in the community.  

The Community Relations intern will be responsible for:

  • Identifying opportunities for The Beast to promote themselves in the Community (i.e. Community events)
  • Processing, tracking, and the input of donations and community partnerships
  • Supporting the planning and execution of all Beast events and game-days
  • Assisting in growing the Beast’s profile in surrounding communities (i.e. Mississauga, Caledon, Halton Hills, Orangeville etc.)
  • Assisting in silent auction, fundraising, and charitable giving initiatives
  • Providing administrative support to the department and the community relations coordinator
  • Assisting in youth hockey initiatives and youth programming
  • Developing community and grassroots hockey programs
  • Assisting in youth hockey sales efforts
  • Gaining knowledge of the facility and the Beast organization
  • Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment and game entertainment needs
  • Performing all other responsibilities and duties as assigned 

Requirements:

Marketing: Game Operations/Presentation
Director of Game Operations - South Carolina Stingrays (N Charleston, SC)

The South Carolina Stingrays are currently seeking a dedicated, hard-working individual to fill the role of Director of Game Operations. The ideal candidate must be organized, reliable and willing to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays. A strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Dreamweaver, Final Cut Pro, Quark Express and/or related programs is a must. In addition to the game presentation, the ideal candidate must be a team player, have strong writing skills and be creative and forward thinking to help out the other departments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Layout and work within game night budgets
  • Write and produce all PA and Game Scripts
  • Work with the President to create custom in game promotions for sponsors and make sure all sponsored elements are included in game night presentations
  • Create all in game video board slides and other sponsored materials
  • Produce in game videos and promotions
  • Create light shows and other forms of visual entertainment
  • Update, maintain and organize game night music computer
  • Direct and oversee the game presentation and manage part time game night staff
  • Coordinate all random, TV and promotional breaks in accordance with ECHL guidelines
  • Work close with ice level promotions teams to carry out intermission activities and other sponsored promotions
  • Capture all video highlights and prepare them for viewing
  • Contribute content to teams official media/game program
  • Responsible for graphic design and artwork of various team advertising publications- print, web, outdoor signage
  • Assist with staffing special team events and player appearances
  • Sales and Other duties as assigned
     

Our Expectations: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2-3 years experience in Communications, Video Production, Multi-Media, or Graphic Design. Strong creative skills and a proven track record of creating first-rate experiences for fans through game presentation. Working knowledge of control room equipment and production capabilities. Ability to multitask and manage variety of staff. Strong understanding of brand standards. Excellent communication skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. Knowledge of conventional and emerging marketing strategies
