Production Intern - Kalamazoo Wings Hockey Club (Kalamazoo, MI)

Fall and Spring 2014-2015

POSITION: PRODUCTION INTERN

The Production Intern is responsible for assisting with all planning of in-game production and execution of production for all 36 home games. The key responsibilities of the Production Intern include but are not limited to:

  • Design and creation of video graphics to be run during all home games.
  • Execution of game production including camera operation, audio playback, video BroadcastPix operation, digital video switching, stat updates, character generator, replay operator
  • The Production Intern will work with the Creative Service Director on a daily basis to ensure that all production activities and duties (video and audio assignments) have been completed and that all video and audio equipment is properly running and in place for game day production. 

TIME: IMMEDIATELY and ends at the completion of the season (pending playoffs).

Must be willing and available to work long hours, weekends and nights. Full time, including game days

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Desire to learn about a career in sports
  • Basic Hockey knowledge
  • Self-driven individual with strong dedication to game promotion
  • Knowledge of audio and video editing and graphic design
  • Ability to creatively solve problems when presented with task

Marketing: Game Operations/Presentation
Game Day: Storm Squad - Stockton Thunder (Stockton, CA)

Employees must be at least 16 years of age (under 18 must provide work permit), and be available for a majority of game dates throughout the season. Games are scheduled mainly for nights and weekends through March with playoff games extending the season through late April and potentially beyond. 

Storm Squad

The Stockton Thunder are seeking outgoing, responsible, dedicated staff to join their Storm Squad.  The Stockton Thunder Storm Squad is the official promotion team of the Thunder.  Storm Squad members assist in maximizing the fan experience.  From setting up various game elements prior to the event to rallying the fans behind every Thunder goal their involvement is a constant contribution to the amazing energy that makes up the Thunder experience. 

Candidates for should be high spirited, outgoing, athletic, comfortable on camera, enjoy interacting with fans and be able to work approximately 4 hours per night for the majority of Thunder home games.  This position may require lifting and physical activity.  Participants must be 18 years of age or provide a valid work permit.

Responsibilities vary each night and may include:

- Set up, execution and break down of all game-night promotions

- Hand out giveaway items before and/or after games

- Assist in execution of sponsored promotions during game breaks

- Rallying fan support during gameplay

- Assist with other tasks as required

- Offer exceptional guest services and customer service to Thunder fans.

- Assist in special events and other tasks as required

- Must be willing to exude a fun attitude and work in front of crowds of up to 10,000 fans

Concourse Sales

The Stockton Thunder are seeking outgoing, responsible and dedicated staff to join their concourse sales staff. Employees in these positions will sell various items and activities to Thunder fans at Thunder home games.  Sales staff must communicate with fans and demonstrate excellent customer service skills and basic math skills while generating and maximizing revenues.

Candidates should be high spirited, outgoing, enjoy interacting with fans, comfortable with basic math and be able to work approximately 4 hours per night for the majority of the Thunder home games.  These positions may require some lifting and physical activity.  Participants must be 18 years of age or provide a valid work permit.

Responsibilities vary each night and may include:

- Set up, execution and break down of program and chuck-a-puck sales stations as well as Thunder “Slap Shot” inflatable.

- Generate sales revenue through sale of chuck-a-pucks, programs, and interactive activities.

- Offer exceptional guest services and customer service to Thunder fans

- Assist with other tasks as required

- Must be willing to exude a fun and positive attitude

Mascot and Promotions Assistant - Stockton Thunder (Stockton, CA)

The Stockton Thunder are seeking an outgoing, energetic, responsible, performer to join their staff as a mascot and promotions assistant.  The Stockton Thunder mascot Thor is an integral part of the Stockton Thunder experience.  As a performer all applicants should be driven to entertain the crowd and rally fan support at all home games, events and community appearances.

Candidates should be high spirited, outgoing, athletic, comfortable on camera, enjoy interacting with fans, responsible and able to work approximately 4 hours per night for the majority of Thunder home games.  This position requires lifting, ice skating ability and other physical activity.  Participants must be 18 years of age (or provide a valid work permit) and possess a valid California drivers license.

Responsibilities vary each event and may include:

  • Develop and enhance the character and personality of Thor through creative performances.
  • Perform at all home games at the Stockton Arena.
  • Ice Skating during select activities
  • Perform and/or provide support to community and team appearances.
  • Responsible for assisting in mascot costume operations including care, cleaning, maintenance, etc.
  • Work directly with the Game Operations, Sales, Community Relations, and Public Relations departments with any promotions necessary.
  • Create goodwill in community and enhance the fan experience.

In-Game Host - Toledo Walleye (Toledo, OH)

The Toledo Walleye Hockey Club is looking for a charismatic, outgoing, and fun in-game host for Toledo Walleye home games. The in-game host will work 20-25 home games and will help execute contests and communicate with in-game participants over the PA system and often on camera. 

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • Previous hosting experience
  • Ability to project and communicate clearly to large audiences
  • A calm demeanor in a stressful or fast-paced environment
  • Improvisation

  • Ability to take direction and move from one location to another quickly
