Game Day Operations Executive (Unpaid Internship) - Brampton Beast Hockey Club (Brampton, ON)

Organization Profile:
The Brampton Beast are the newest professional hockey team in Canada. After playing their inaugural season as a member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), the Beast are now members of the ECHL after the two AA leagues merged in early October, 2014. The Beast play their home games at the Powerade Centre located in Brampton, Ontario. The team is dedicated and devoted to serving the community while continuing to advance the sport of hockey by providing exciting sports entertainment for a growing fan base. Volunteer, internships, employment opportunities, player career development, youth programs, and small business partnerships are all aspects of the business that the Brampton Beast sustain.

 

Responsibilities:
The Brampton Beast Hockey Club is scouting for committed, energetic, and outgoing individuals with a passion for both customer service and hockey.  The Game-Day Operations internship provides a learning experience for those looking to develop their knowledge and skills surrounding sports and events business operations.  

The Game-Day Operations Intern will be responsible for:

  • Providing operational support during all Beast events and game-days
  • Assisting with event planning procedures in-office
  • Acting as a key member of promotions, event execution, and sponsorship fulfillment
  • Learning to plan, organize and execute elements necessary for in-game entertainment
  • Working with various departments to coordinate game-day strategies
  • Gaining knowledge of the facility and the Beast organization
  • Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment and game entertainment needs
  • Performing all other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be recieving school credit upon completion of the internship program in order to be eligible for participation
  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college/university program. Preference will be given to candidates who are currently enrolled in college/university programs relevant to sports/business/management. 
  • Must be available to attend Beast Home Games and Events that take place during internship
  • Strong verbal/written communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Team-oriented nature, with an ability to work in a fast-paced group atmosphere
  • Outgoing and energetic with a willingness to learn
  • Able to exert force or lift up to 25 pounds
  • Knowledge and previous experiences in hockey would be an asset
  • Demonstrates commitment to the following 10 qualities: integrity, work ethic, positive attitude, results, teamwork, independence, creativity, confidence, leadership, and urgency

The Brampton Beast Hockey Club is scouting for committed, energetic, and outgoing individuals with a passion for both community relations and hockey.  The Community Relations internship provides a learning experience for those looking to develop their knowledge and skills surrounding sports and events business operations, particularly as they relate to developing and maintaining relationships in the community.  

The Community Relations intern will be responsible for:

  • Identifying opportunities for The Beast to promote themselves in the Community (i.e. Community events)
  • Processing, tracking, and the input of donations and community partnerships
  • Supporting the planning and execution of all Beast events and game-days
  • Assisting in growing the Beast’s profile in surrounding communities (i.e. Mississauga, Caledon, Halton Hills, Orangeville etc.)
  • Assisting in silent auction, fundraising, and charitable giving initiatives
  • Providing administrative support to the department and the community relations coordinator
  • Assisting in youth hockey initiatives and youth programming
  • Developing community and grassroots hockey programs
  • Assisting in youth hockey sales efforts
  • Gaining knowledge of the facility and the Beast organization
  • Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment and game entertainment needs
  • Performing all other responsibilities and duties as assigned 

Requirements:

Promotional Team - Greenville Road Warriors (Greenville, SC)

Promotion Team

Supervisor: Game Operations Coordinator

Status: Paid per Game

   

The Greenville Road Warriors, ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, are seeking qualified, passionate, energetic and committed candidates for our Promotion Team. Team members will assist in the game presentation on home games through the fall and spring of 2015-2016.  The Promotion Team is designed to give each fan an unforgettable experience at every home game.

       

   

Responsibilites:

· Attend the Pre-game operations meeting in the Production Room.

· Responsible for game promotions and fan engagement.

· Selecting contestants for on-ice promotions and escorting them to the event they are participating in

· Set up on ice promotions and execute contests, t-shirt tosses, line dances, and anything that enhances the family environment the Road Warriors try to promote.

· Set up and distribute promotional giveaways

· Working with the Road Warriors promotion table on the main concourse which includes answering fans questions and coordinating prize pickup from on-ice promotions

· Assist with the pre/post game activities such as entrance giveaways and post game handouts.

· Assisting with other game specific elements as needed such as selling Chuck A Puck and supervising the Kid’s Zone.

      

Qualifications:

· Must be at least 17 years of age.

· Previous experience in a cheerleading, dance team, street team, promotional team is encouraged but not required.

· Ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, ability to work effectively with others, are self-motivated, reliable, dependable and posses a high level of professionalism. Our promotional team members are people who are not afraid to be in front of people and are very outgoing and energetic.

· Ability to multi-task in a high pressure environment as well as take direction and apply sound judgment in decisions

· Position requires excellent communication skills.

· Candidates are encouraged to learn how to skate but are not required. Each candidate must be reliable to attend the games he/ she has agreed to work.

· Transportation MUST be required by each candidate to and from the arena. Parking will be provided for promotion team member.

· Strong leadership, organizational and computer skills

· Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed, as well as availability for playoff games in May or June

OVERVIEW: The Greenville Road Warriors are looking for a skilled, outgoing and enthusiastic performer to be our new mascot for the 2015-2016 season. Our mascot will be at all 36 home games, plus playoffs, and will be responsible for engaging fans and enhancing their in game experience. The mascot will also serve an essential, highly visible role in representing the Road Warriors organization in the community. We are looking for reliable and dedicated individuals to fill this important role.

     

Specific Duties:

  • You will act as an ambassador of Greenville Road Warriors.
  • You will serve as the Greenville Road Warriors Mascot at various events, home games and charitable appearances
  • Duties Include:
  • Performing in front of large crowds
  • Entertaining fans of all ages
  • Participating in entertainment acts and in game promotions
  • Communicating regularly with promotions team and Game Operations Coordinator
  • Pick-up and Drop-off Road Warriors mascot costume on event days and care for the well-being of the costume during events
  • Report any concerns/problems/issues to the Game Operations Coordinator

  

  • Qualifications:
  • ·  Energetic, self-motivated, friendly and outgoing personality
  • ·  Needs to be a quick thinker: Must be able to follow scripts and improvise when necessary
  • ·  Required to be on your feet and moving for an extended period of time
  • ·  Able to interact comfortably and naturally with fans of all ages
  • ·  Ability to ice skate is strongly preferred
  • ·  Must be flexible to work all Road Warriors home games and events including late nights, weekends and holidays.

           

Compensation:

· Mascot performers will be compensated on a per appearance basis, including games and community events. The position is not full time.
