Game Day Operations Executive (Unpaid Internship) - Brampton Beast Hockey Club (Brampton, ON)

Organization Profile:
The Brampton Beast are the newest professional hockey team in Canada. After playing their inaugural season as a member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), the Beast are now members of the ECHL after the two AA leagues merged in early October, 2014. The Beast play their home games at the Powerade Centre located in Brampton, Ontario. The team is dedicated and devoted to serving the community while continuing to advance the sport of hockey by providing exciting sports entertainment for a growing fan base. Volunteer, internships, employment opportunities, player career development, youth programs, and small business partnerships are all aspects of the business that the Brampton Beast sustain.

 

Responsibilities:
The Brampton Beast Hockey Club is scouting for committed, energetic, and outgoing individuals with a passion for both customer service and hockey.  The Game-Day Operations internship provides a learning experience for those looking to develop their knowledge and skills surrounding sports and events business operations.  

The Game-Day Operations Intern will be responsible for:

  • Providing operational support during all Beast events and game-days
  • Assisting with event planning procedures in-office
  • Acting as a key member of promotions, event execution, and sponsorship fulfillment
  • Learning to plan, organize and execute elements necessary for in-game entertainment
  • Working with various departments to coordinate game-day strategies
  • Gaining knowledge of the facility and the Beast organization
  • Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment and game entertainment needs
  • Performing all other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be recieving school credit upon completion of the internship program in order to be eligible for participation
  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college/university program. Preference will be given to candidates who are currently enrolled in college/university programs relevant to sports/business/management. 
  • Must be available to attend Beast Home Games and Events that take place during internship
  • Strong verbal/written communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Team-oriented nature, with an ability to work in a fast-paced group atmosphere
  • Outgoing and energetic with a willingness to learn
  • Able to exert force or lift up to 25 pounds
  • Knowledge and previous experiences in hockey would be an asset

The Community Relations intern will be responsible for:

  • Identifying opportunities for The Beast to promote themselves in the Community (i.e. Community events)
  • Processing, tracking, and the input of donations and community partnerships
  • Supporting the planning and execution of all Beast events and game-days
  • Assisting in growing the Beast’s profile in surrounding communities (i.e. Mississauga, Caledon, Halton Hills, Orangeville etc.)
  • Assisting in silent auction, fundraising, and charitable giving initiatives
  • Providing administrative support to the department and the community relations coordinator
  • Assisting in youth hockey initiatives and youth programming
  • Developing community and grassroots hockey programs
  • Assisting in youth hockey sales efforts
  • Gaining knowledge of the facility and the Beast organization
  • Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment and game entertainment needs
  • Performing all other responsibilities and duties as assigned 

Requirements:

Digital Marketing Coordinator - Greenville Road Warriors (Greenville, SC)

Overview: This position will serve as a member of the team’s marketing staff and will work with the VP of Marketing and Revenue Support and General Manager to implement the team’s digital media, social media, marketing communications and email marketing strategies. In addition, this position will develop, manage and implement marketing and communication strategies focused on supporting the team’s ticket sales efforts and enhancing the exposure and activation of the team’s corporate partners. The Digital Marketing Coordinator will also manage the team’s website, social media and design of the team’s sales/marketing collateral pieces and digital marketing assets. All efforts will be aimed at increasing revenue while also strengthening the organization’s perception and brand position within the marketplace.

Reports To: VP of Marketing and Revenue Support

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage and implement the team’s digital marketing and email marketing strategies.
  • Manage and coordinate the team’s digital advertising by working with the VP of Marketing and Revenue Support & GM.
  • Manage and enhance the team’s website and online sales vehicles.
  •  Develop and implement social media and e-marketing strategies aimed at increasing tickets sales and game promotion while also enhancing the team’s brand position and visibility within the community.
  • Develop, monitor and manage the team’s in-arena digital assets to ensure fulfillment and brand integrity for both the Warriors and team partners.
  •  Collaborate with the ticket sales department to develop effective marketing support for season ticket, group, suite and individual game sales.
  • Create and manage all electronic communication from the team to customers, partners and media.
  • Manage all collateral material (including season tickets, sales collaterals, pocket schedules, promotional pieces and marketing pieces) production from design conception through production.
  • Design and produce all print and electronic advertising under the direction of the VP of Marketing and Revenue Support and GM.
  • Work with the VP of Marketing and Revenue Support to develop enhanced promotional and marketing platforms with media partners, corporate partners and community partners aimed at generating incremental ticket sales and increased awareness and visibility.
  • Create, develop and implement communications strategies aimed at fan engagement, fan development and individual game promotion/ticket sales.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in digital marketing, advertising, graphic design or related fields.
  • Experience in digital ad management including Facebook and Google.
  • Strong creative drive and ability to think outside the box.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver.
  • Experienced in web design and with knowledge of HTML & CSS languages.
  • Self-motivation & strong work ethic is essential.
  • Commitment to teamwork and to fostering a positive culture of collaboration is a must.
  • Ability to analyze digital campaign performance, adapt strategies based off analytics and stay on top of new trends and strategies for digital marketing.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with an irregular work schedule.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage several projects at once, and meet tight deadlines.

Event Presentation Internship - Indy Fuel (Indianapolis, IN)

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the leadership of the Director of Event Presentation, this role be to assist with maintaining and updating all of the organization’s event presentation planning.  The position will allow growth and experience in utilizing assets to creatively engage and entertain fans, raise awareness of organizational events, marketing initiatives and maximize brand awareness.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the production of all Indy Fuel home games and special events at Indiana Farmers Coliseum, in addition to miscellaneous community events.
  • Assist in the creation and development of game scripts and timing sheets activate all ticket/premium sales, marketing, sponsor, and game presentation programs efficiently.
  • Support clear communication and partnership growth with WebStream Sports to ideate, create and develop long and short-form video elements to improve the fan experience.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the in-game entertainment experience in collaboration with in-arena host.
  • Support management of all part-time game day team members, including sound, light, spot, replay, DJ, in-arena host, Pit Crew, ice crew and other game day operational staff for home games.
  • Develop and implement in-game promotions, games and contests with the interests of fans and corporate sponsors prioritized.
  • Collaborate with digital media team to creatively integrate content into impactful game presentation.
  • Provide strategic support for other marketing-related matters including ticket sales, corporate partnerships, social media and analytics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Qualified applicants must be enrolled in a higher education program and be pursuing a degree in marketing, sport management, communications or an equivalent field throughout the duration of the internship and must receive course credit for their commitment to the Fuel.

 

Experience:

  • Game presentation experience, with some managing and directing skills preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with a professional sports team is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in collaboration is mandatory.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a hockey knowledge and passion for sports.

 

Skills:

  • Strong, proven leadership skills.
  • Naturally open-minded and organized, with a demonstrated commitment to a collaborative creative process.
  • Must have ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines on a continual basis.
  • Provide genuine collaboration required with all internal teams to bring the game presentation (including special theme nights and pre-game ceremonies) to life successfully.
  • Possess a natural curiosity about technology, as well as a creative and risk-taking mentality.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative in both content development and problem solving.

Entering the organization’s second ECHL season in 2015-16, the Indy Fuel serve as the proud “AA” affiliate of the NHL’s defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.  The Fuel play all home games at the historic and newly renovated Indiana Farmers Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Promotional Team - Manchester Monarchs (Manchester, NH) - Manchester Monarchs (Manchester, NH)

The Manchester Monarchs are searching for energetic, motivated individuals to be a part of their Promotional Team. The Promo Team works for the organization both in-season and off-season to promote the Manchester Monarchs brand at Monarchs games and various community events throughout the year. 

IN GAME

The game night promotions team’s primary role is the enthusiastic implementation of in-arena and on-ice promotions during Monarchs games.  The crew is also responsible for the execution of a number of other pre-game and post-game duties. The Promo Team game night team is an integral part of the game presentation staff.  They are entertaining and interactive, and act as a direct link to the fans.  These individuals are always considered “on stage” and should act as such.

We consider the floor crew to be performers in our in-game show.  Applicants should be dramatic, energetic, enthusiastic and have positive attitudes. Ice-skating ability is a REQUIREMENT for this position.

Responsibilities on a game night may include, but are not limited to: tossing T-shirts, throwing tennis balls, setting up awnings, placement of on-ice carpet, clap chants/cheers in crowd, assisting with youth hockey intermissions and on-ice promotion and greeting/thanking fans in the front lobby of the arena.

OUT OF GAME

Outside of in-game promotional duties, the Promo Team will also be required to work various events with the Manchester Monarchs staff. This includes street fairs, non-profit activities, tradeshows, road races, promotional nights at local businesses and any other events that require representation.

Promo Team members will be asked to deliver marketing supplies and materials to local businesses to spread awareness about the team and educate the community about the Monarchs brand.

Promo Team members are also required to attend charitable functions hosted by the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs.

The Missouri Mavericks are currently seeking a dedicated, hard-working individual to fill the role of Manager of Game Operations and Fan Experience. The ideal candidate must be organized, reliable, work well with others, take direction from multiple people, and available to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Community Relations Coordinator - Utah Grizzlies (West Valley City, Ut)

FUNCTIONS:
 

The Utah Grizzlies Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for scheduling, managing, and carrying out the community relations activities of the Utah Grizzlies. As a central part of our team, the Community Relations Coordinator will be responsible for all staff, mascot, coach, and player appearances as well as creating positive relationships with not-for-profits. The Community Relations Coordinator must be a cheerful, positive, hardworking and mature individual who is passionate about youth and community engagement!
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

• Seek out community events where the Grizzlies can be represented by the mascot, team staff, coaches, and/or players. 
• Work with the mascot, Grizzbee, to coordinate and execute effective mascot appearances. 
• At times perform the mascot duties.
• Work with the Grizzlies coaching staff to coordinate and execute player appearances. 
• Facilitate and oversee Community Relations donations to local groups and charities. 
• Work with ticket sales team to generate fundraiser ticket sales through community partnerships.
• Help create and execute the Community Relations business plan. 
• Attend all Grizzlies events and games. 
• Ability to generate new ideas and methods to increase efficiency of the Community Relations departments. 
• Assist the Grizzlies sales team with other duties, as required.
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize.
 

REQUIREMENTS: 
 

• Able to work a 40 hour week in this office, plus all home games and other outside events. Must work flexible hours to include business work week, nights, weekends and holidays.
