Ticket Operations Intern

The Ticketing Internship Program is designed for college students to explore careers in the sport industry while getting hands-on experience working with a professional minor league hockey team. The Thunder will expose students to numerous sales roles and will allow students to learn from and work alongside Thunder Front Office Staff members.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team with the day-to-day ticketing operations of the team.

• Work several hours per week in the office.

• Database management – adding new leads (kids club members, raffle contestants), research / reporting on individual’s spending habits

• Creating various ticket promotions for the Thunder season

• Box office management – window sales, handle incoming calls, general customer service

• Interns may be asked to work any additional home games played in the postseason, which could run until early June 2016.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Generates revenue through cold calls and face-to-face presentations to area companies to sell, premium, club, and general group packages
  • Generates own leads by prospecting sales territory and generating referrals
  • Makes sales calls and schedules face-to-face appointments to discuss accounts and promptly follows up with the appropriate action to move the sales process forward
  • Strong emphasis in exploring opportunities to generate additional sales and revenue
  • Achieves and exceeds weekly, monthly, and annual goals in both revenue and activity set by Senior Management
  • Demonstrates the necessary ability and drive to not only meet, but exceed team and personal revenue goals
  • Attends special events such as business Clubs, Chamber of Commerce meetings, and other live lead generating opportunities

Ticket Sales Manager - Utah Grizzlies (West Valley City, UT)

POSITION SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION 
This position is responsible managing ticket sales staff, not only by leading by example, but specifically providing direction, ongoing assistance, implementing sales strategies, and direct oversight for the Ticket Sales Department. Ticket Sales Manager will be responsible for recruitment and hiring of ticket sales staff, lead procurement via means of outside networking and prospecting. Candidate is responsible for new business development by selling Utah Grizzlies ticket packages, group seats, and rental suites through phone sales and outside meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ticket Sales Manager will direct the staff recruiting process which includes prospecting candidates, interviews, hiring, orientation, and ongoing training
• Create, develop, and implement sales campaigns and strategies specifically in regard to season and flex ticket sales, group sales efforts, and other promotional ticket packages
• Track progress of department by creating reports which will show ticket sales, revenue, goals, and future projections
• Responsible for new business development of all Utah Grizzlies products through face-to-face presentations, prospecting new clients, following-up on referrals and leads, and cold calling
• Responsible for instruction, oversight, continuous training, having a sales first mentality while managing entire Ticket Sales Department
• Makes outbound calls daily with customers/new clients prospecting new business 
• Prospects and qualifies all new leads and referrals for season tickets, group sales and suite sales
• Meets new business development and sales goals
• Manages sales kiosks, service clients and work other related assignments on game days 
• Regularly attend season ticket holder events to maintain and service current ticket holders

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

1. FORMAL EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION
• A degree in business, communications, sports marketing or related field.

2. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 3-4 years business-to-business sales experience with proven track record of successfully developing and closing new business in a high volume sales environment
• Minimum of 1-2 years experience in managing a staff, preferably in sales. 
• Proficient computer skills including ability to work with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
