Account Executive (Unpaid Internship) - Brampton Beast Hockey Club (Brampton, ON)

Organization Profile:
The Brampton Beast are the newest professional hockey team in Canada. After playing their inaugural season as a member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), the Beast are now members of the ECHL after the two AA leagues merged in early October, 2014. The Beast play their home games at the Powerade Centre located in Brampton, Ontario. The team is dedicated and devoted to serving the community while continuing to advance the sport of hockey by providing exciting sports entertainment for a growing fan base. Volunteer, internships, employment opportunities, player career development, youth programs, and small business partnerships are all aspects of the business that the Brampton Beast sustain.

Responsibilities:
The Brampton Beast Hockey Club is scouting for committed, energetic, and outgoing individuals with a passion for both sales/marketing and hockey.  The Sales & Marketing internship provides a learning experience for those looking to develop their knowledge and skills surrounding sports and events sales/marketing operations.

The Sales and Marketing Intern will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the creation of Beast materials and content through graphic design
  • Assisting with website, events, logistics, and implementation of Beast campaigns
  • Maintaining internal databases and correspondence with Beast fans
  • Maintaining and expanding web-based marketing to increase brand awareness
  • Assisting in Beast merchandising and retail marketing
  • Researching sales leads and initiatives to develop programs for the Beast
  • Implementing flyer and print material
  • Gaining knowledge of the facility and the Beast organization
  • Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment and game entertainment needs
  • Performing all other responsibilities and duties as assigned 

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Business, Marketing, Sport Management or related field of study (degree/diploma/certificate program)
  • Strong understanding of MS Office Applications
  • Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suite an asset
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Excellent organization and communication skills 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines are essential for a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely proactive
  • Ability to work as an effective team player, as well as independently 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

OBJECTIVE:
The Evansville IceMen seek a self-starter who will be responsible for generating revenue through outbound sales campaigns that focus on the sale of full, partial, mini-game ticket plans and group sales to businesses and individual customers.

The Account Executive will be responsible to:

•Generate new business through outbound sales calls, outside appointments, and building tours
•Prospect and research new business opportunities through cold calling, referrals, and networking events
•Cultivate new business and service existing clients and prospects
•Maintain a detailed customer database of all clients and prospects
•Set up face-to-face appointments with key decision makers of community and corporate groups
•Staff Evansville IceMen ticket sales tables for games and events plus outside functions including luncheons, business shows, conventions, festivals, etc.
•Meet and exceed weekly and monthly sales and productivity goals
•Work all home games to support ticket sales initiatives
•Perform all other duties as assigned by Director of Ticket Sales and Services

Fall Group Sales Internship - Greenville Road Warriors (Greenville, SC)
The Greenville Road Warriors are looking for Fall Group Sales Interns who will report directly to Road Warriors ticket sales representatives. This internship is offered to Juniors, Seniors, or recent college graduates. Ticket Sales Interns will assist with promotion events, community events, group initiative, game day fulfillment, and other duties as assigned. Internships are unpaid and students are strongly encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible. Warrior’s internships are full-time with the ability to receive commission and gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization. Internships do not include housing, transportation, or relocation cost. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals. Qualifications: • Open to college juniors, seniors and graduate students in related majors • 3.0 GPA or higher • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications • Must be able to keep up in fast-paced environment, customer service orientated, professional, and flexible to work during normal business hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as based on the event calendar Internship Objectives, including but not limited to: • Learn to create and assist in maintaining season ticket holder benefits, programs and clubs. • Learn to create and maintain sales and client development databases. • Learn to qualify leads and sell Road Warriors group packages • Assist departments with the marketing and promotions of Season Tickets and Game Plans, individual game tickets, as well as any sales promotions and playoff packages. • Learn to plan and execute game day events and promotions. • Attend brainstorming sessions dedicated to developing new and innovative sales and marketing plans. • Assist staff in developing new and inventive ways to build and maximize relationships with customers. • Assist in the implementation and review of promotions, public relations and group sales for events. • Assist in creating collateral materials such as print ads, promotional pieces, posters, press releases, schedules, calendars and various ticket brochures from concept to completion • Assist in escorting media at events, and various event day responsibilities • Assist with social networking campaigns to increase ticket sales • Assist with the sales table at public relations, promotional, and venue events • Marketing research that will require making phone calls, faxing, emailing, searching the internet, and conducting meetings with various individuals within the market • Learn and participate in the day to day operations of the sales department in a public assembly facility • Assist with cold calling • 30-40 hours per week during normal business hours with flexibility to work nights / weekends as needed for games and events. • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various social media sites • Strong leadership, organizational and computer skills required • Excellent communication skills • Recommended for Marketing, Communications, Management, or Hospitality Majors • All applications without a cover letter will not be taken into consideration for this internship • A winning, do-what-it-takes attitude and a desire to learn.

JOB PURPOSE:

Actively solicit new accounts for Stadium Management Company and sustain on-going business relationships with existing accounts.

 

 

Principle Accountabilities:

  4. Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, competitor deliverables, promotions, etc.
  5. Recommends improvements in products, services, packages, promotions by continuously evaluating results, actively seeking guest feedback, and observing competitive developments.
  6. Resolves customer issues to sustain long term guest engagement by making improvement recommendations to management.
  7. Creates and sustains positive interactions with all associates by being a promoter of Greenleaf Hospitality vision, mission and core values to all colleagues.
  8. Continuously improves one’s own professional and technical knowledge and skills by attending educational workshops, actively participating in regularly scheduled sales team meetings, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies and seeking additional methodologies.

Season Ticket and Group Sales Consultant - Toledo Walleye/Toledo Mud Hens (Toledo, OH)

Summary of Responsibilities:

A Season Ticket & Group Sales Consultant is directly involved with the sale of tickets.   He/she uses planning, organizational and people skills to prospect and achieve season ticket, group ticket, individual ticket and catering sales goals as established by the Assistant General Manager - Ticket Sales & Operations and the Director of Ticket Sales.

Functions:

- Reach personal sales goals as established by the Assistant GM and Director of Ticket Sales.

- Plan, organize and manage personal sales goals and help the ticket department achieve its goals.

- Make outgoing calls and contacts in order to generate new sales and attract new companies/fans.

- Sell various season ticket plans to businesses, organizations and individuals.

- Sell group outings and catered events to businesses, organizations and individuals.

- Sell merchandise and souvenirs to businesses, organizations and individuals.

- Maintain relationships/sales with existing clientele in all ticket sales categories to ensure long-term partnerships and upsell possibilities.

- Handle incoming inquiries regarding season ticket plans and group outing options.

- Disseminate season ticket, group and catering information to existing and potential clients.

- Follow up with the people who request and receive season ticket, group outing and food & beverage outing information.

- Collect deposits and final balances on outings and season ticket plans and follow the proper processes as they relate to the Box Office, accounting, CRM, etc.

- Interact with other staff members to help insure a positive and successful season.

- Set up meetings with potential season ticket holders and group leaders.

- Refer corporate sales opportunities to the Assistant General Manager – Corporate Partnerships.

- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  1. Full time, year round.
  2. Off-season hours are typically 8+ hour days.  During season hours may range from 8 to 14 hours per day

Required Experience:

A Ticket Consultant should be self motivated.  It is necessary to have good people, planning and organizational skills.  There is daily interaction with current and potential clients.  He/she should be creative, driven and possess the ability to work with others and accept various tasks.  Ticket sales experience is recommended but not required.

Summary: The Group Sales Manager is responsible for daily operations, including sales calls, making client appointments and achieving sales goals.  To manage, supervise and coordinate the activities and operations of the Wheeling Nailers Group Sales Department; to schedule and book groups for all facility events; and to provide highly responsible staff assistance to higher-level management staff.

Qualifications:
- Degree preferred, equivalent work experience will be considered
- Minimum 2 to 4 years sales management experience preferred

- Previous sales experience is strongly desired

Under the leadership of the Director of Ticket Sales, the Ticket Sales Account Executive is responsible for selling all Wheeling Nailers ticket packages including Full Seasons, Partial Plans, Groups and misc. packages.

• Responsible for producing the maximum revenue for the Wheeling Nailers through the sale of ticket packages
• Knowledgeable in all Nailers product lines including season plans, partial plans, group sales and premium seating packages

• Responsible for in-arena and outside face-to-face sales presentations in order to create sales opportunities
• Responsible for managing and servicing assigned accounts in order to up-sell and renew on an annual basis

• May be required to work outside sales events in addition to all Wheeling Nailers home games for the purpose of promoting sales packages through tabling, promotions, and invitations to games
