2014-15 Game Night Operations Internship - Elmira Jackals (Elmira, NY)

The Elmira Jackals are seeking candidates for the position of Game Night Operations Intern. This position offers an inside look at the game night operations. This is a fun, fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your Sports Marketing Coursework.

 

* This internship is a GAME NIGHT ONLY position No office hours required. It is an unpaid position. *

 

This position is designed to assist all members of the ticketing, marketing, and sales departments specifically during game days and community events throughout the season. This internship is a part time position with a focus on in game presentation and execution. This position will have heavy interaction with the Jackals’ current fan base.

The Jackals will play a 36-game home schedule during the 2014-2015 season, starting in October and lasting until mid April 2015. Playoffs can extend the season until the middle of June.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work ALL Jackals home games (Weekdays & Weekends)
• Assist in planning and preparing game operation activities
• Support Elmira Jackals staff in all pregame or postgame events as assigned
• Assists with in-game production and promotional activities, including Blades Good Grades, National Anthem singers, selecting guests for intermission activities, group activities, etc.
• Placing and organizing concourse tables and signs
• Assisting staff with promotional giveaways and couponing initiatives
• Assisting staff with in arena fan experiences
• Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Ideal candidate is pursuing a college degree in Sport Management, Marketing, or closely related field.
• Successful candidates have some experience in marketing and/or customer service, are innovative, self-started, independent, demanding nothing less than the best, energetic, and organized while possessing excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.

 

AVAILABILITY:
• Must be able to attend ALL Elmira Jackals Hockey home games.
• Please note we are able to work with student schedules given that absences are reported with advance notice.

2014-15 Video Production Internship - Elmira Jackals (Elmira, NY)

The Elmira Jackals are seeking candidates for the position of Video Production Intern. This position offers an inside look at professional game night video production. This is a fun, fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your portfolio.

 

* This internship is a GAME NIGHT ONLY position No office hours required. It is an unpaid position. *

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn from and collaborate with Jackals video department personnel to assist in fulfilling the department’s video production requests, including the execution of the game presentation for Elmira Jackals games and other First Arena events.
  • Serve as a production assistant for Jackals TV video shoots (lighting, grip, etc) and editing assistant on certain projects (pre-builds, rough assemblies, etc.)
  • Assist in the preparation of game-day elements (i.e. video features & graphical elements) as directed.
  • Assist in the development of the organization’s marketing & sponsorship needs while satisfying individual brand identity.
  • Assist in the organization of files and footage including logging game tapes, editing highlight melts, digital storage integration and dub requests.
  • Potential to serve on game day production crew.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree (or pursuing a degree) in video/television production.
  • Ability to light and place microphones to capture quality video and audio.
  • Experience with non-linear editing systems, ideally Adobe Creative Suite 5 or 6 (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects and Soundbooth)
  • Knowledge of ice hockey is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to assist with multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Position requires flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and some late nights as dictated by game & event schedules and accompanying pre-production.

2014-2015 Marketing and Graphics Internship - Elmira Jackals (Elmira, NY)

The Elmira Jackals, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, are currently accepting applications for a marketing and graphics intern for the 2014-15 season.

 

The intern will work under the Director of Creative Marketing and Graphics to assist in development of graphic designs that will compliment the Jackals marketing objectives and in-game experiences.

 

Objective:
The student will develop a complete portfolio of works that will be used on www.jackalshockey.com, advertisements, and in-arena promotions.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with development of graphical themes for Jackals and First Arena marketing objectives
• Create graphics to be used in-game, online, and in print advertisements and publications
• Be present at each Elmira Jackals home game and community events as needed
Qualifications:
• Candidate should be currently enrolled pursuing a degree in graphic design, marketing, or a related field
• Strong creative, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong interest in sports preferred, but not necessary
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

Compensation:
This is a non-paid internship. Applicants must be working internship for college credit towards graduation.

Communications Internship - Elmira Jackals (Elmira, NY)

The Elmira Jackals professional hockey team is looking for qualified college juniors and seniors to work as communications interns during the 2014-15 season which runs from October 2014 to April 2015. This internship is ideal for students who are interested in pursuing a career in public relations, broadcasting, or journalism; specifically in the sports industry. Communications interns will be responsible for assisting the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations in managing the working media on game nights, producing online content, and more.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage the press box for all Jackals home games (preseason, regular season, and playoffs).
• Coordinate post-game media interviews.
• Submit one feature story per week for www.jackalshockey.com.
• Compose a 2-4 minute video highlight package each week of the season.
• Contribute to radio broadcasts of home games through player interviews and intermission reports.
• Assist in pitching story ideas to local media.
• Assist in updating team roster, player biographic information, and game notes.
• Participate in the team’s social media outlets.
• Catalogue game-day photos.
• Write press release drafts.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor.

 


Qualifications and Requirements:
• This is an unpaid internship. Applicants must be working internship for college credit towards graduation.
• Only college juniors and seniors may apply.
• Candidates must possess superior written and communication skills.
• Candidates must have a firm knowledge of hockey.
• Ideal candidates will be experienced in video and audio editing (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Audacity, etc.).
• Experience in conducting interviews for radio or television is preferred.
